What happens after I graduate from the Academy? Am I licensed as a hairstylist? Am I a licensed esthetician?
Cosmetology and Esthetic students will graduate with a
Diploma in their chosen fields from the EC Academy.

COSMETOLOGY
Cosmetology is a designated trade. There are a few
steps after graduation before getting a license, the first
step is a Provincial Theory exam.  After passing the
exam, graduates must then apprentice in a salon for
1400 hours before they can take their Provincial Practical Exam. Once the student has successfully passed both exams, the student can obtain their Journeyman Certificate (Hairstylist License). At the time of their Provincial Exam, students may also take their Red Seal Exam which would enable them to work across Canada.

ESTHETICS
In Alberta, Esthetics is not a licensed trade - students receive a diploma from the Academy and can obtain employment immediately.

Do I need to have any previous experience to be eligible for admission?
